Appleby Petfield are proud to support the local community with activities and fund raising through donations, sponsorship and assistance. This has been a long established policy of Appleby Petfield and one which we look to continue for the future.

Heathfield Show

We are proud to be a longstanding supporter and sponsor of the Heathfield Agricultural Show. This event is held every year on the last weekend in May and is a well-supported and loved event in the calendar.

We have a sponsorship package at the Heathfield Show. Andie has been an active member of the Grounds Committee and Show Council for many years.

We have prepared the show plans and trade stands layout for the show having done so since 2003.

Andie sponsors a memorial trophy for a Pig class in memory of her parents who were pig farmers in the 1960’s/70’s and in recognition of continuing support for the community.

We also sponsor a show banner and are Show members. We attend the show annually as a firm as well as our involvement on the day around the show ground.

Heathfield Ladies Rugby

We are the current 2nd XV training shirt sponsor for the Heathfield Ladies rugby.

Andie presented the trophy on 8th March 2025 for the lady of the match.

Le Marche

We prepare the layout plan for the annual Le Marche event in the town each year. This event comprising a joint venture recognizing the twinning of the town with Forges-Les-Eaux in France is a popular event with stalls bands and displays help on the August Bank Holiday Monday.

We have prepared their plan for over 15 years.

Christmas Charity giving

Like many businesses, we tend to give money to charity at Christmas rather than send Christmas cards. In the past, we have supported national charities such as Cancer Research and Help the Heroes. Over recent years, we have focused on local charities.

For the last couple of years, we have supported Vikki the Vicars’s food distribution scheme in Heathfield and supplement this with charity giving and local support as the need arises.

Hailsham and Sussex Young Farmers

Being a rural business with roots in the countryside, we support the work and activity of Hailsham Young Farmers and actively sponsor and attend their fundraising events and activities. We also sponsor wider Sussex Young Farmers events to promote the business and the work of the Young Farmers in improving the lives of young people and the support they need in gaining life skills and knowledge.

Ploughing Matches

We provide sponsorship to the ploughing society to help them put on ploughing matches each year. This enables the public to see the skills on show in competition ploughing as well as keep the craft alive to attract younger generations.

This is a well-supported rural annual event and forms part of the array of ploughing matches around the county and country leading to national championships.

It is important that these crafts are kept alive and that both modern and historic machinery is kept working and the skills passed on to new generations.

Being at one with and having an understanding the land and the methods of food production is vital in an ever more mechanized and AI driven world.

Child Respite Trust (CRT)

The CRT holds a number of events during the year accommodating in a winter ball held in the Devonshire Park Theater in Eastbourne. This event comprises a fund raising and charity event raising between £60,000 and £70,000 for the charity to fund its work through the year.

We are proud to be able to form part of this event with our annual attendance and contribution to the work of the charity.
